Two Training Courses: Trans and Gender Diverse Primary Care, and Gender Affirming Surgeries: Planning, Referral, and Care

WellFort Community Health Services is pleased to host two trainings facilitated by Rainbow Health Ontario.

We are opening the sessions to other colleagues and partners in the Peel Community for FREE but spots are LIMITED. Information on the workshops are found below, with their respective registration links.

1. Trans and Gender Diverse Primary Care

Tuesday April 3rd 2018 
9:00 am - 12:30 pm

Open to Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physicians and Social Workers

(This session is primarily for physicians and nurse practitioners health care providers who are in a prescribing role), as well as other medical providers.

Learning Objectives

  • Initiating and monitoring hormone prescribing
  • Completing assessment, monitoring, and follow-up for hormone therapy
  • Utilizing local clinical guidelines to inform and guide practice
  • Ongoing preventative care for trans and gender diverse clients
  • Providing holistic community-based transition-related services to trans and gender-diverse clients

2. Gender Affirming Surgeries: Planning, Referral, and Care

2 DAY WORKSHOP; April 24th and May 1st 2018
9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Open to Nurse Practitioners, Psychologists, and Physicians. This training is co-facilitated by NP or Physician.         

*This training is Certified and Accredited

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding recent regulatory context and the current process of surgical referral
  • Understanding risks and pre- and post-op considerations for 7 funded procedures
  • Planning for successful surgeries with trans and gender diverse people
  • Completing requests for OHIP funding (as primary and secondary referring provider)
  • Writing effective letters of referral to surgical providers
  • Supporting clients holistically throughout the referral process
